Chapter 10

LANCE

She was amazing, but the night was young, and I wasn’t through. Her forehead rested against my shoulder as my dick softened and slid from her sheath. I wanted more, but my body wasn’t cooperative at the moment.

“Should we go back inside?”

“Hell no. We are fucking all night long.”

She chuckled against my shoulder and lightly bit but jerked up quick. “Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?”

Her face turned toward the main road in front of the hotel. “A parade is getting ready to start.”

I slid one hand over my face. “Well, it is Mardi Gras.”

“Let’s go, Lance.”

“Now? You want to go now?”

She bobbed her head up and down. “Do you remember that weekend we stayed at the hotel in the French Quarter?”

“The Royal Sonesta? I remember you flashed your tits so many times you had a hundred strands of beads.”

Her breath warmed my cheek when she laughed. “It was a great weekend. I don’t plan to show my boobs again, but I’d like to watch a parade with you. You loved New Orleans and Mardi Gras. Besides, we’re already in costume.”

She wanted this, and truthfully, I missed New Orleans. I grew up here, and twenty-six years of my life belonged to this city. My parents relocated to Georgia after I graduated from college, but New Orleans would always be home.

Jonnie had no clue I’d booked a room at that very hotel in case this happened. It was pure luck they had one available.

I slid one hand over the chestnut hair tumbling around her shoulders. “I have a surprise for you anyway.”

“A surprise? You didn’t even know this would happen.”

“But I hoped.”

Her eyes lowered, and she toyed with the buttons on my shirt. “Lance. You were always enough. I want you to know that.”

It was an uncomfortable subject. I shouldn’t have made that snide remark, although that’s how I viewed the situation. That old wound needed to heal. “Let’s let the past go, Jonnie. Start fresh. What do you say?”

Tears brimmed in her eyes, but she nodded. “Fresh. I like it. So, what’s the surprise?”

“Can you leave your car here overnight?”

“I rode with Tams.”

“Adam rode with me, so perfect. Let’s go.”

I snatched her feathers when we stepped from the gazebo after dropping the condom in the trash. She tossed her purple tights in a trashcan. We both chuckled as we made our way to my car, but her warm hand linked with mine felt right. As soon as we rounded the corner a limousine was parked in front of the entrance. Adam and Tams were preparing to leave for their Bahamas honeymoon.

“Should we send them off?” Jonnie asked.

I didn’t want to. I wanted to haul Jonnie over my shoulder and run to my hotel room, but it was because of Adam and Tams that this happened. “I suppose we should.”

Wedding guests began funneling into two lines on either side of the walkway at that exact moment. Jonnie fidgeted with her tutu, and I adjusted my black costume.

“Oh, shit,” Jonnie whispered, turning to face me.
